Job Description
About Us
We are a funded AI voice startup offering interactive voice solutions. We’re transitioning from a no-code platform (Bubble + Vapi) to a custom backend integrating Twilio, AI, and other services.
Project Scope
- Telephony/Voice: Replace Vapi with Twilio for real-time calls, recordings, concurrency management.
- AI & ML: Integrate Deepgram for transcription, ElevenLabs for TTS, and OpenAI for conversational logic. Plan to fine-tune an LLM with call transcripts.
- Payment & Billing: Integrate Stripe for subscription management and usage-based billing.
- Compliance: Ensure GDPR compliance and potential HIPAA readiness.
- Front-End: Continue to use Bubble.io as the primary front-end; new backend will expose REST/GraphQL endpoints.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement a robust Node.js backend on AWS (or similar) to handle high call concurrency (200+).
- Integrate Twilio for programmable voice, call routing, and real-time event handling.
- Build secure pipelines for audio transcription (Deepgram) and TTS (ElevenLabs).
- Use OpenAI’s API for call flow logic and future fine-tuning with transcripts/outcomes.
- Implement Stripe billing, ensuring usage tracking and subscription management.
- Collaborate with the CTO (in Thailand) and other team members (in the US).
- Help define best practices for security, data storage, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA).
Qualifications
- Expertise in Node.js/Express with production deployments.
- Hands-on experience with Twilio (or similar telephony APIs).
- Proficiency in AWS (ECS/Fargate, S3, RDS, etc.) or equivalent cloud services.
- Familiarity with AI/ML services (OpenAI, Deepgram, etc.).
- Understanding of compliance (GDPR, HIPAA) best practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills & a track record of remote collaboration.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Bubble.io integrations.
- DevOps background (CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging).
- Prior work with healthcare or regulated data.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly or project-based rate (negotiable based on experience).
- Opportunity to shape the architecture from the ground up.
- Potential to transition to a permanent role as we grow.
- Flexible work environment with a global team.
