Platform Engineer

This role will focus on creating robust developer platforms, automating workflows, and advancing build and release practices to support our distributed engineering teams.

As a Platform Engineer, you will drive the development and maintenance of tools and systems that empower developers to build, test, and release software more efficiently. This includes designing scalable CI/CD pipelines, automating repetitive tasks, and integrating modern DevOps practices into our engineering processes. This remote role involves collaboration across global teams, with occasional travel for team meetings and industry events.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on Jenkins and modern automation tools.

• Automate build, packaging, and deployment processes for RPM- and DEB-based Linux operating systems.

• Enhance existing build and release workflows to improve speed, reliability, and scalability.

• Develop and maintain internal repositories and implement new repository structures as needed.

• Integrate third-party software and custom components into Percona distributions.

• Proactively identify and resolve issues related to build infrastructure, packaging, and deployment.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize their workflows and provide developer-focused tools.

• Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve developer productivity.

What You Have Done

• Extensive experience in a build/release or DevOps role, with a strong focus on automation and scalability.

• Expertise with Jenkins, including pipeline creation, job automation, and scaling Jenkins environments.

• Proficiency in Linux systems administration (file systems, networking, and virtualization).

• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python) with a focus on automating repetitive tasks.

• Hands-on experience with RPM/DEB package creation and management.

• Deep understanding of CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with DevOps platforms like Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.

• Knowledge of open-source relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is a plus.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Proven experience in building platforms that improve developer workflows and productivity.

• Expertise in integrating Jenkins with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Hetzner, etc.).

• Active contributions to open source projects or public technical forums.

• Experience with advanced DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code and GitOps.

• Track record of improving packaging and deployment practices for large-scale distributed environments.

• Knowledge of modern build systems and their integration with CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong communication skills with experience working in distributed, remote-first teams.
