Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Job Description
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll lead a small team within the Project Ares core platform in API design and backend development. You will guide the team in designing, implementing, and maintaining RESTful APIs by employing concepts like API First Design and OpenAPI contracts. Following service-oriented architecture principles, you will build and improve a robust Golang backend. A key focus will be developing the service's ability to deploy and manage virtual cyber training environments in Azure cloud infrastructure. Most importantly, you'll work closely with various stakeholders to facilitate dynamic Range building, ensuring these specialized environments meet training requirements and can be rapidly deployed on demand.

How You Will Add Value
Lead development of the Project Ares Range Service, a critical piece of Project Ares that is responsible for on-demand orchestration and configuration of cyber range environments, including architecting, implementing, and establishing test cases.
Drive technical decisions and establish best practices for RESTful API development using OpenAPI standards
Mentor junior engineers on the team and foster an empathetic and collaborative development environment
Design and implement scalable services in Golang that integrate with Azure cloud services
Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and knowledge sharing
Establish monitoring and alerting for production services to ensure high availability
Proactively identify and address technical debt to maintain system health
Collaborate with stakeholders and other engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role
Required Skills & Experience:
6+ years of professional software development experience with at least 3 years focusing on backend systems
Proven track record of technical leadership in small teams
Strong proficiency in Golang and experience building RESTful APIs
Thorough understanding of microservice architecture and service-oriented design principles
Experience with OpenAPI specification and API-first development approaches
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent industry experience
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience with Azure ARM templates and infrastructure as code
Experience with Azure cloud services
Familiarity with Azure SDK for Go
Experience with event-driven architecture patterns
Knowledge of database technologies including PostgreSQL and NoSQL solutions
Experience with messaging systems such as 0MQ or Azure Service Bus
Experience with SaltStack and/or Ansible
Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and logging solutions
