In the Managed Services Department, customers count on us to keep their open source databases running and we are vital to the success of their business. With 24/7 support of world-class DBAs, we are able to deliver the highest quality support to customers around the world. From incidents and outages handling through a variety of projects executions to proactive recommendations for environments’ improvements – These are our objectives that aim at customers’ satisfaction and translates to customers’ business results.

What You Will Do

• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues of moderate complexity related to their PostgreSQL environments

• Develop relationships with customers, comprehend and fulfill their needs, and maintain their satisfaction through regular communication and engagement with their environments

• Perform technical work that requires planning and scheduling to ensure the best possible solution is delivered on time

• React on incidents and provide solutions aimed at maintaining environments’ stability, performance, and scalability

• Work in a fast-paced environment where we are responsible for companies’ most critical systems

• Work remotely; there is no central office, and most people work from their homes. Some travel for team meetings is required.

• Participate in on call rotation to support our customers 24x7x365 for any operational issues that may arise

• Communicate with our customers in a polite, friendly, and professional manner

• Provide constructive feedback, both internally and externally, with the aim of continually improving

What You Have Done

Technical skills:

• 4+ years experience working with PostgreSQL Databases, including all aspects of installation/configuration, performance tuning, etc.

• Advanced understanding of Linux OS.

• Ability to use SSH to connect to remote systems with password & public/private keys.

• Deep understanding of systems performance.

• Understand automation concept to speed up the work(Ansible).

• Advanced knowledge on PostgreSQL internals.

• Experience implementing high availability by setting up either streaming replication or logical replication and decoding.

• Knows how to optimize queries/schemas.

• Knows backup solutions and strategies.

• Knows HA solutions and strategies.

• Knows pooler/proxy usage as it relates to PostgreSQL.

• Ability to troubleshoot methodically, identifying and applying fixes for known errors, and when necessary, capacity to think outside of the box to resolve complex issues.

Non Technical Skills:

• Is able to individually assess customer/environment impact.

• Executes approved change management implementation plans.

• Follows the incident handling process.

• Addresses problems by following run-books.

• Good written English language.

• Write a technical report on tasks performed.

• Ability to work well with people and communicate effectively both internally and with customers.

• Ability to communicate information to staff members and customers in a clear and concise manner.

• A desire to learn and grow your knowledge of DBMSs.

• The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.

• A desire to contribute to improving our operations.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Experience with PMM.

• Kubernetes expertise.

• Cloud and DBaaS experience.

• Systems and network administration knowledge.

• Experience in a managed service provider model.

• Experience working with GitHub and shared repositories.

• Experience and knowledge of Python or C/C++ languages.

• Experience in working with Ansible.

• Experience with MySQL or Mongo.

Working Hours

Working hours depending on the time zone ( in UTC ). This position is for the US west shift. Mandatory shift hours (+2 hours extra that may be served before or after the mandatory shift hours).

• APAC shift – 12:30 am -6:30am

• EMEA shift – 6:30am – 12:30pm

• US East shift – 12:30pm – 6:30pm

• US West shift – 6:30pm – 12:30am

Each team member has an on-call duty during the weekends – 12h on Saturday and 12h on Sunday once a month. Some flexibility in availability is required for internal meetings.
