Job Description

AI API Engineer for Object Detection & OCR Integration (Short-Term, Contract)

  • Duration: ~2-3 weeks (freelance/contract)
  • Location: Remote
  • Start Date: ASAP

About the Project

We are developing an AI-powered tool that extracts structured insights from images and videos using object detection and OCR. We need an experienced AI API engineer to integrate and optimize AI APIs for image and text recognition.

You will work closely with our AWS engineer to process image/video uploads, run AI-based recognition, and return structured data to our backend.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate AI APIs (Google Vision, AWS Textract, YOLOv8, or equivalent)
  • Detect and classify objects from image and video frames
  • Extract text (make, model, serial numbers, etc.) using OCR
  • Optimize API calls for speed, accuracy, and scalability
  • Work with our AWS engineer to connect results to our system

Required Skills

  • Experience with AI APIs (Google Vision, AWS Textract, YOLOv8, OpenAI GPT-4 Vision)
  • Strong background in computer vision (OpenCV, MediaPipe, or TensorFlow)
  • Ability to integrate AI models into a production system (Python + AWS preferred)
  • Experience working with structured data from AI-generated outputs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience optimizing AI model inference speed
  • Experience integrating AI with React-based frontend applications
