Role Overview :
As an Engineering Manager of the Data Platform team at Jimdo, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing this engineering team, driving project execution, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture. In addition to technical expertise, this role places a strong emphasis on stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration essential for effective leadership.
What you’ll be doing:

Build and lead a high-performing engineering team by employing effective recruitment, mentorship, and professional development strategies, while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints, while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing and data, to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Manage the delivery and maintenance of the data products the team is building

Contribute to the development of the company's technical strategy and roadmap, aligning it with overall business objectives

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of engineering efforts with business goals, while collaborating with stakeholders to gather and prioritize project requirements and ensuring a thorough understanding of their needs.

Manage resource allocation and workload distribution to ensure optimal team efficiency and project delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align resources with project requirements and timelines.

Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products, driving a culture of continuous improvement by incorporating feedback loops and learning from project experiences.
What you bring to the table:
-
5+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering with a focus on data platforms, with at least 2 years of experience managing and mentoring engineers in a technical leadership role, with the ability to foster collaboration and accountability.

Strong hands-on experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, Redshift, EC2, etc.) and modern cloud-based data solutions.

Extensive experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics workloads.

Proficiency with Python for building automation scripts, data processing pipelines, and integrations.

Strong expertise in Apache Airflow for orchestration of complex data workflows.

Familiarity with Kafka for event streaming and real-time data processing.

Experience with Tableau or similar tools for data visualization and reporting.

Strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of distributed systems and data architectures.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and timelines.
