Job: Staff Developer (Temp-to-Hire)

Type: Full-time, W-2, remote, temporary role

Duration: 4 months minimum, with the possibility of extending contract or becoming permanent employee

Rocket Communications is an enterprise UX Design company focused on designing mission-critical applications and systems. We are seeking a remote Staff Developer for a 4-month contract, with the potential to be extended to 12 months or become a permanent employee.

If you have a solid understanding of key web app design principles, and 8+ years of experience, you could be a great fit in helping us solve some of our nation’s most complex space app user experience challenges.

We are a small company dispersed across the U.S. Our work can be challenging and complex, but our team is fun, friendly, and supportive.

This is a remote role, however due to our work with federal government agencies we need someone who is a US Citizen and lives in the USA.

About You

  • You have 8+ years experience in development, including 4+ years in web app development and 2+ years using Java and/or Kotlin programming language.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
  • You have experience with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS, Javascript ES6+) and/or expertise in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Ruby, Python, PHP, or C++.
  • You have expert-level knowledge of React, Apache, .NET, and SQL Server.
  • You have experience with Linux and/or Windows development lifecycles.
  • You enjoy working closely with both internal and external design teams to ensure the feasibility of the design, clarify ambiguous designs, and build reusable code and components.
  • You are comfortable operating as the Development Lead on projects when applicable, providing technical oversight to fellow Developers on the project and ensuring project deliverables are met.
  • You are a US Citizen who lives in the USA (due to Rocket's work with local and federal government agencies this is a firm requirement)

Bonus Points

  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile development environments
  • Experience working on DoD/security development projects
  • Experience developing containerized software and developing multiple containerized applications that interface together (Kubernetes, Docker, Pod Man, Docker Compose, OpenShift)

$130,000 - $185,000 a year

Rocket Communications determines the salary range for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external and internal equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Our base salary offers are mainly determined by levels of experience.
