Job Description

POSITION DETAILS:

LOCATION : Remote, in Portugal

DEPARTMENT : Site Reliability Engineering

REPORTS TO : Engineering Manager 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Telephony Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our voice platform to ensure the smooth delivery of high-quality customer interactions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our VoIP infrastructure. Your ability to identify and troubleshoot problems is vital.

 

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

▪ Identifying and resolving issues related to voice quality, connectivity, and other VoIP-related problems.  

▪ Knowledge in the use of SIP Proxy and Registrar (Kamailio) and Media Server (Freeswitch)

▪ Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, and support teams.

▪ Help roll out milestone releases.

▪ Improve scalability, service reliability, capacity, and performance.

▪ Contribute to monitoring, alerting, and tracking of the platform.

▪ Consistently share knowledge about the changes made to the platform with the Support and NOC teams.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

▪ Higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications or similar.

▪ Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting UCaaS/CCaaS systems, including VoIP.

▪ Expertise in VoIP related protocols (SIP, SDP, RTP).

▪ Experience with signaling analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, sngrep, Homer).

▪ Knowledge of scripting and automation tools.

▪ Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage competing priorities.

▪ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

▪ Experience with Observability, Monitoring, Performance or Availability tools or services, preferably in the infrastructure monitoring area
