Job Description
WordPress VIP is the world’s leading enterprise content management platform. We help the world's largest companies (including Meta, Salesforce, and Disney) and Government customers (including the White House, NASA, and The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) create innovative digital experiences with WordPress. As one of the fastest-growing areas of Automattic , with 40% year-on-year growth and recent FedRAMP certification, WordPress VIP (WPVIP) is expanding its reach into the public sector.
The Public Sector Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing marketing plans and executing campaigns that target government agencies and decision makers. This is a high-priority growth area for WPVIP, and the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the government procurement process, regulations, and purchasing cycles.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute marketing strategies and plans that align with the company‘s goals and objectives, focused on government/public sector customers.
- Lead market research efforts to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive forces in the government sector.
- Collaborate closely with Content Marketing and Product Marketing to create industry-leading content that is aligned with WPVIP’s brand, positioning, and messaging, and that resonates with government decision-makers and influencers.
- Develop and manage marketing budgets, and allocate resources effectively to target government decision makers at every stage of the procurement process.
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop lead generation and nurturing campaigns that target government officials and purchasing departments.
- Create closed-loop feedback with Sales to understand impacts and outcomes, and leverage learnings to inform future campaigns.
- Work cross-functionally to define and execute integrated marketing campaigns designed to generate high intent demand (including first-party events, third-party event sponsorships, paid and organic social media tactics, content creation and syndication, etc.).
- Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics, and adjust campaigns to optimize results, with a focus on conversion rates, cost-per-lead, and sales revenue.
- Manage external agencies, vendors, and partners to execute campaigns and initiatives and oversee the on-time and on-budget delivery of campaigns.
- Plan and execute participation in public sector conferences, trade shows, and government-focused events, ensuring maximum ROI and brand impact, and to network with government officials and decision makers involved in the procurement process.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in Public Sector/Govt. and Industry marketing with a strong history of success.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns that drive lead generation and revenue growth in the government sector.
- Deep knowledge of the government procurement process, regulations, and purchasing cycles, as well as an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of different government officials involved in the procurement process.
- Extensive experience managing presence at owned and 3rd party events, and a strong perspective on which events will be most effective for WordPress VIP from a demand generation perspective and in support of brand recognition objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing marketing content for government decision makers and influencers.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision making, plus experience with marketing automation and CRM platforms.
- Experience managing budgets and allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously, with a focus on meeting government procurement timelines and requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to execute marketing campaigns flawlessly, taking into account the unique compliance and regulatory requirements of the government sector.
- Ability to work in a matrixed organization with a virtual team; experience in large corporate settings and/or professional services a plus.
