Job Description
The Director, Solutions Marketing role offers significant opportunities to impact internally on the product engineering development process while also driving external sales, product launches, and, most critically, revenue generation.
You will lead a team of 2 Senior Solutions Marketing Managers that serves as the interface between the customer, product management, and marketing. You will quickly gain these teams’ respect and support and will consistently demonstrate product and market expertise, attention to detail, and accountability.
Your work and insights will provide the foundation for developing differentiated messaging, which will support our teams in creating content, marketing campaigns, and product strategy and lead to an increase in the adoption of our software and services.
It’s critical that you understand open-source software and associated services. It would be hugely beneficial if you had worked with the following databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and MariaDB. You should also have demonstrable experience of enterprise buying cycles, cloud adoption trends, and customer use cases. In addition, you need to be a master storyteller to weave together the customer journey and their pain points and position how Percona can help.
What You Will Do:

Positioning & Messaging – Create the storyline for our products and services, leveraging our vast team of subject matter experts and working collaboratively across sales, product & engineering and marketing. You will create sales enablement tools to help our sales team better position our products and services and create unique lead magnets to supplement customer acquisition campaigns.

Go to Market – Collaborate with product management to create a shared vision and go-to-market strategy for our products and services. Define the strategic positioning of our products, services, key features, pricing, and key product messages. Drive use case development, bringing together customer research, product and financial data, and analytics to drive revenue. Examine the performance of each touchpoint across the entire consumer journey and identify key marketing and product levers to unlock incremental improvements.

Analyst Relations – Work with the PR, Brand, and Comms teams to coordinate and present analyst briefings to ensure Percona is accurately represented in the analyst community. We use our analysts as a key research tool for developing messaging, value propositions, and GTM strategy.

Drive Brand and Demand – As our product and services champion, you will speak at conferences, with the press, to analysts, and to other key influencers. You will work closely with demand generation and event marketing leaders to execute innovative online marketing campaigns to support sales growth. You will be responsible for developing sales enablement tools, including competitive analysis and use cases.

Market Research – Acquire and possess in-depth knowledge of our target markets, segments, buyer personas, competitors, and partners via primary and secondary market research. Educate the company on market requirements, trends, and competitor capabilities.

Product Launches – You will partner with product management and marketing leadership to manage the end-to-end product launch cycle, ensuring maximum exposure to our customers and Ideal Customer Profile prospective accounts.

Social Proof – Manage our social proof profiles, including Gartner Peer Insights and create campaigns to increase customer reviews.

Competitive Intelligence – Actively monitor the competitive landscape and present key findings to stakeholders across the business

Customer Advisory Board (CAB) – Actively participate in our quarterly CAB meetings, helping shape the agenda, presenting key findings and gathering feedback from customers to communicate back to the business.
What You Have Done

7+ years of experience in supporting open source databases, other open source technology or SaaS products in a product marketing role

Experience with enterprise databases and/or open source technologies

Strong track record of leading, coaching and mentoring a team of product marketers

Demonstrated ability to work across all levels of the organization (product, sales, and marketing)

Proven track record in performing well in a fast-paced environment and organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines effectively

Strong written communication and presentation skills

Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus among teams
