An overview of this role
As a Product Manager for AI in Editor Extensions at GitLab, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing the developer experience through AI-powered tools integrated directly into the coding environment. You'll lead the strategy and execution for features within various IDEs, enabling developers to leverage AI for code suggestions, chat assistance, code reviews, and vulnerability resolution within their daily workflows.
In this role, you'll collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team to deliver AI solutions that seamlessly integrate into the developer's workflow across multiple editor platforms. Your decisions will directly impact how developers interact with AI while coding, making their experience more efficient and productive.

What You'll Do
Lead strategy and development of AI features in editor extensions across multiple IDE platforms
Prioritize high-impact features and monitor usage metrics to guide investment decisions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop ambitious yet attainable product plans
Maintain and communicate a clear one-year roadmap for AI-powered developer tooling
Gather insights from customers and stakeholders to identify AI opportunities in development workflows
Ensure engineering requirements are clear and milestone priorities are ready for development
Stay current on competitive landscape for AI coding assistants and identify opportunities to innovate
What You'll Bring
Experience in product management with knowledge of AI coding assistants, models, and context management
Strong technical understanding of software development and the SDLC
General developer tooling experience with passion for design and usability
Highly independent approach with excellent communication skills at all levels
Comfort with all-remote work and alignment with GitLab's values
Data-driven decision making with strong bias for action
Experience with IDE/editor tooling is a plus (JetBrains, VS Code, Visual Studio, Eclipse)
Background as a software engineer is a plus
Experience in enterprise organizations and B2B customer engagement is beneficial
About the team
The Editor Extensions team works on bringing GitLab's powerful features directly into developers' preferred coding environments. Together, we collaborate through GitLab's issue tracking and merge request workflow, continuously soliciting feedback from users to improve our extensions.
The team builds extensions in various technologies including TypeScript, Lua, Kotlin, and C#, creating solutions that work consistently across different editor platforms while maintaining high performance and reliability standards.

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
