Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Construction and Design, as the Project Manager of Construction and Design you will play a pivotal role in managing the successful planning, execution, and completion of construction projects for our luxury beauty retail spaces. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in construction management, an eye for detail, and a passion for delivering high-end, aesthetically pleasing retail environments.

Responsibilities:

Site Selection and Approval

  • Work in tandem with our real estate team to evaluate prime locations that resonate with the upscale nature of our brand.
  • Coordinate site surveys, test fits, and work letter negotiation to provide real estate and finance teams integral information to obtain internal site approval.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with design teams, architects, and stakeholders to develop project plans that integrate design concepts with construction requirements.
  • Ensure alignment of design with budget constraints and construction feasibility.
  • Lead the coordination of all project phases, from concept development to construction completion.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising design integrity.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials and services that align with design specifications and budgetary constraints.
  • Negotiate and manage change orders, inputs, within project budget.
  • Review and manage entry of all invoices to ensure on-time payments to vendors.

Design Coordination:

  • Act as a liaison between visual merchandising and construction contractors to address design-related issues during the construction phase.
  • Identify and implement areas to value engineer the design to fit space and budget requirements.

Construction Oversight:

  • Supervise construction activities to ensure they align with design intent and quality standards.
  • Coordinate construction and delivery schedules for project, ensuring timely delivery for all vendors.
  • Monitor progress on site, address issues, and maintain a high level of quality control.
  • Punch necessary locations and action necessary items prior to turnover
  • Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to implement design changes efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Manage coordination and completion of large-scale facilities needs through partnership with vendors and store team. Needs can include natural disasters, plumbing, electrical, or structural issues.

Project Management

  • Develop and share project timelines with stakeholders and cross functional partners to ensure necessary visibility
  • Maintain files for submission of closeout packages after project completion. Coordinate completion of all punch list items. Manage relationship with store team during warranty period.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams, design professionals, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and any deviations from the original plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience in the retail industry
  • Knowledge and application of construction state and city code requirements.
  • Proven experience in managing retail construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, capital projects, design principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Microsoft Project, Teams, TANGO analytics)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Process-focused mindset with experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% during peak periods.
