You will join a distributed and diverse team of designers and researchers supported by leadership who work collaboratively to deliver delightful solutions to complex identity problems. As a centralized design team we have a high degree of autonomy and ownership towards the outcomes we drive for our customers. We also work closely with our Product Management and Engineering counterparts to ensure our solutions are not only user-centric but also technically feasible and aligned with business needs. Together, we collaborate to define problems, explore innovative solutions and deliver seamless experiences that enhance security and usability for our customers. We are looking for a designer who is a team player and works closely with engineers and product managers to solve complex problems. What you will do
- Drive and execute an ambitious product design strategy for your team ensuring a meaningful impact on both user experience and business outcomes.
- Bring a systems-thinking lens to the conversation and connect the dots between user insights, business goals, and user experience to create products that keep millions of customers safe every day.
- Balance designing functional, tangible user experiences with generative explorations that challenge the status quo. Drive impact by framing problems and exploring solutions in collaboration with other designers and cross functional partners.
- Design end-to-end flows that involve multiple personas – IT Admin, Security admins, End-user – and consider complex use cases that span the Okta portfolio ensuring that every user of Okta can do their work efficiently while staying secure.
- Perfect the details to design scalable and usable design patterns that drive a lasting impact, ensuring they not only meet a high bar for design quality and efficiency but also enhance efficiency and consistency across the product.
- Partner and collaborate closely with user research, UX writing, product management, engineering, marketing, and data science to deliver best in class experiences. You will have the opportunity to lead through influence.
- Regularly present work, concepts, and new ideas to cross-functional team members, adjacent teams, and senior leadership to drive alignment, showcase design impact and influence key product decisions.
- Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends.
What we are looking for
- You easily move between big picture thinking and being detail-oriented.
- You keep user goals at the heart of your solution and can also balance business objectives and engineering considerations.
- You thrive in ambiguous environments and know when to lead versus when to lean on your team members.
- You build and share empathy with people in order to deeply understand them and their needs.
- You are someone who sees design as a partner with PM and Engineering in shaping strategic and operational product and UX outcomes
- You are comfortable owning all stages of design for multiple teams within a given product area.
- You are passionate about upholding design UX principles
- You showcase story telling skills to communicate your design ideas to a variety of stakeholders.
- Your portfolio will show that you've worked on complex and challenging technical projects across all aspects of the design process (generative and evaluative research, discovery, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, etc.)
- You share our values, and work in accordance with those values
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant work experience as a product designer.
- Proficient in Figma, Miro, Balsamiq and/or similar design tools.
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer.
- This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our San Francisco, CA HQ office during the first week of employment.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $147,000—$221,000 USDBelow is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
