What’s the role?

We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer II, to join a multidisciplinary app development team, where you will work alongside native engineers to build exciting features for our app users on the Listing screen. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to Etsy’s goals and growth alongside mobile engineers and partners. You’ll work cross functionally with Product, Design and Analytics solving real user problems.


This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

For this role, we are considering candidates based in Mexico, however candidates living within commutable distance of the Etsy Mexico office will be the first to be considered. Even if located within commuting distance of an office, you will have the option to work office-based, flex, or remotely.

What’s this team like at Etsy?

This is a full-time role within the Inventory Buyer Experience Initiative on our Listing iOS Team.  Our mission is to develop a dynamic Listing Screen that surfaces the information that matters most to support a buyer in evaluating items, especially for Etsy’s flagship Categories.


 

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Collaborate across Product, Design, Analysts, Researchers, and Engineering to build a dynamic listing screen

  • Prototype, optimize, and deploy large-scale product improvements that deliver key results.

  • Run A/B experiments to validate product improvements.

  • Confidently communicate technical issues with all vital stakeholders.

  • Lead and assist in performing product testing including unit, functional, visual, etc.

  • In collaboration with your team, craft and improve processes that impact iOS app development across Etsy.

  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • At least 2+ years of professional iOS development experience, ideally in a product-minded environment.

  • Proficiency in Swift, familiarity with SwiftUI, and you understand ObjectiveC enough to be effective when needing to interact with it.

  • Strong desire to collaborate and pair with engineers within and outside of your immediate team.

  • Have previously worked on large applications with many developers or teams.

  • Can help to define unconstrained problems, and know when to seek help when no progress is being made.

  • A strong product focus and an eye for design. The work you'll do here will impact millions of users and it is important to understand their problems and find effective solutions for them.

  • Experience in iOS debugging practices and tools and can communicate complex technical issues in clear language.

  • Proficiency with version control tools (our tooling and processes are based on git and GitHub).

  • Are passionate about beautiful code and quality development practices.

  • Have experience with testing (unit tests, functional tests, visual tests) and accessibility frameworks.

  • Have a “leave it better than you found it” mentality, and are willing to work with and improve on code you did not originally write.
