THIS IS AN UNPAID, REMOTE NONPROFIT STARTUP VOLUNTEER ROLE.

Background:

Pitch Labs, a 501(c)3 non-profit, works to inspire, educate, and mentor aspiring entrepreneurs to build their first business. Obtaining knowledge to be a successful business founder can be financially costly and energy draining. Our 100% volunteer run nonprofit works to provide free resources online in the form of an ‘how-to’ library, a community of entrepreneurs, and events. We hope to create a world where everyone feels empowered to innovate.

How this Role ties into Our Mission & What We Need:

As we work to create content to promote the learning of young entrepreneurs, we recognize our need for specific and directed marketing efforts. We are targeting the ‘Aspiring Entrepreneur Student Support Circle’ - think teachers with curriculum, local small business owners for mentorship, etc. We are also trying to create content directly targeted at Aspiring High School entrepreneurs.

Our multi-stakeholder approach requires a robust marketing strategy that can effectively reach and engage every group. We are looking for a Director of Marketing who can effectively lead a team of graphic designers, copywriters, ads specialists, etc. (For reference, the Marketing team is split up into four groups right now: Social Media, Google Ads, Newsletter, and UI/UX. Each group has/will have its own lead.).

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a previous Marketing Team Lead and managing end to end brand/campaign strategies
  • Be based in the United States, speak professional/native level English, & respond to messaging/emails within 24 hours
  • Educational and/or nonprofit background
  • Creative Direction experience
  • A network/current relationships with influencers and/or an understanding of growing a younger target audience via Tiktok, etc.
  • Should understand Google search ads
  • Understand Search Engine Optimization for Social Media
  • Understand the structure of social media posts and compelling content creation (ex: storytelling, and the use of narratives to drive lessons)
  • Understand copywriting and market research/demographics
  • Know how to use Canva & Google Workspace
  • Know how to use project management software

Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Transform inter-department visions into actionable plans
  • Assign team members to tasks that meet personal as well as organizational goals
  • Lead team/individual 1-1 meetings
  • Meet weekly with the President and department’s HRO (human resource officer) to understand how the team can better be supported
  • Optimize marketing campaigns (social media and ad) to reach target audience
  • Ensure work to be done is logged on a project management system
  • Communicate with team members within 24 hours of any requests for help

Time Commitment: at least 8-12 hours a week for at least 12 months.

  • Included in this time estimate: the weekly team 1-1 meeting, time for text/email communication, time spent working on a project. Volunteers can take on more tasks and spend more time if they desire.
  • We have a 24 hour message acknowledgement (thumbs up) and 48 hour message response policy to ensure smooth workflow for all of our team members.
  • Volunteers can take time off as needed for exams, work, family etc. We only request that such requests are communicated ASAP to allow teams to plan.

  • Although we are all volunteers, we work like a start-up, and seek individuals who are strong communicators and bring energy to the table.
