Job Description
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage and maintain our organization’s database systems. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of our databases while supporting business operations and data-driven initiatives. Collaboration with stakeholders to meet organizational goals and implementing best practices for database management will be essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Monitor database performance and perform tuning to improve efficiency.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard organizational data.
- Ensure database security by managing access controls and implementing encryption where necessary.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patches.
- Design and implement database schemas, tables, and indexes based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with application developers to optimize database queries and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database processes, procedures, and policies.
- Provide support to resolve database-related issues on time.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- 3+ years of experience in database administration, management, and troubleshooting.
- Strong expertise in SQL and database optimization techniques.
- Experience with relational database management systems (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with SSIS (Integration Services) Packages and transformations.
- Experience with SQL Server Always On is a plus.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery tools and strategies.
- Understanding of database security principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools and performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL).
- Familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
- Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell scripting).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are highly desirable.
