Director of Analytics, Forecasting and Business Insights

What’s the role? 

We are looking for a Director of Analytics, Forecasting and Business Insights. In this role, you will be responsible for (1) Forecasting and Business Insights, (2) SEC reporting and (3) ad hoc projects. You communicate clearly and are able to successfully juggle multiple priorities and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Finance. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

For this role, we are considering candidates based in Canada, however candidates living within commutable distance of the Etsy office will be the first to be considered. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Lead a team of two Data Analysts responsible for Forecasting and Business Insights and SEC reporting.

• Forecasting and Business Insights: will own our Gross Merchandise Sales forecast and also lead investigations into business and competitor trends.

• SEC Reporting: provide analytics support to our Accounting and Investor Relations teams as a part of our quarterly earnings process (SEC filings, earnings presentations, etc).

• Ad Hoc Projects: help provide support across the Finance Organization, helping to dig deeper into special projects and ad hoc requests.

The Strategic Finance Director will demonstrate: 

• 10+ years of finance experience, including experience in financial planning and business analysis and managing direct reports.

• Proficient in SQL and either R or Python. Bonus points for experience with BigQuery, GCP, and/or analytics in cloud environments.

• Significant experience with forecasting, including data-driven time series modeling techniques (e.g. ARIMA, exponential smoothing, time series decomposition).

• Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other data visualization softwares.

• Expert experience in financial modeling, Google docs, Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint. 

• Previous participation in the budgeting and forecasting process at a company of similar or larger size to Etsy and thrives in a continuous planning environment.

• Mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).

• Firm grasp of GAAP; strong familiarity with e-Commerce and technology.
