Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Legacy Code Specialist to stabilize and improve a critical 20-year-old .NET 4.8 system. This role is pivotal in ensuring the long-term functionality and reliability of the system by leveraging AI tools for efficient code analysis and problem-solving. The ideal candidate will work closely with an in-house development team, providing mentorship and expertise to drive improvements while ensuring seamless knowledge transfer. This is a flexible, remote role with an expected commitment of 30-40 hours per week for a duration of 6-12 months (with a possibility to extend beyond that).
Required Skills
- Proven experience with legacy systems and maintenance, specifically with .NET 4.8.
- Proficiency with AI-powered development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar, to accelerate debugging and system optimization.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and support an in-house development team.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues in a legacy codebase efficiently.
- Significant time zone overlap with the US-based team (9:00 am -5:00 pm EST).
Nice to Have Skills
- Availability for occasional in-person meetings, especially for candidates within driving distance of North Carolina.
- Experience working with international teams and adapting to cross-cultural collaboration.
Additional Information
While candidates from Eastern Europe, India, and South America are encouraged to apply (as long as they can work with significant overlap with the working hours previously mentioned), we are open to US-based professionals if they align with the budget and requirements.
This opportunity is ideal for a highly skilled legacy systems expert who enjoys problem-solving, mentoring, and working with established teams to ensure the success of critical systems.
